The Department of Arabic Language was established in 1995-1996, and since then the department has produced groups of specialised students to teach Arabic language and literature in secondary schools within the structure of the Ministry of Education of the Kurdistan Region / Iraq....
In addition to the graduation of more than 13 batches of master's students in the two specialisations (language and literature) since 1999-2000, the department has also graduated two batches of doctoral students since 2016-2017. The number of students of the department in the current academic year 2025-2024 for the initial study is 445 students in the morning shift ... in addition to the master's students, whose number is (17) students, in the two disciplines, and the number of doctoral students is (9) students ... Since the academic year 2018-2019, the department has opened its doors to students in the evening shift and graduated batches of them, and the students in the evening section continue their journey with the number of the first and fourth stages, who number (70) students.
The department has kept pace with administrative, scientific and cultural developments, and its faculty members have participated in most of the department, college and university scientific, cultural and social activities in order to deliver the message entrusted to them in the development of individual and collective abilities and development of students ... As well as the development of their scientific CVs.
The scientific staff of the teaching staff is a distinguished staff of (27) teachers in various general and branching specialisations in the Arabic language ..... The scientific staff has developed in the department so that four of the teaching staff have the title of professor, while the number of teachers who are at the level of assistant professor is (5) and teachers are (14) teachers between a doctoral degree holder and a student in the doctoral stage. The number of assistant teachers is (2), as well as a teaching assistant who holds a master's degree and recently obtained the title (assistant teacher) and the department has a special building on the left side of the Faculty of Education that includes (8) halls (9) rooms for teachers as well as the department's headquarters occupied by M. Born on October 16, 1970, Erbil, I completed my primary and middle school studies for a year 1986 in the city of Erbil, then I joined the Teacher Training Institute there as well, and graduatedIn 1991-1992, I was first in the Arabic Language Department and first in the institute.Then I joined the Arabic Language Department at the College of Education - Saladin University/Erbil, and graduated on 7/2/1996.I was first in the department and one of the first in the college, and I was appointed as a teaching assistant in the department in the same year, then I joined postgraduate studies in the same college and the same department in the year 1997, and I graduated in 1999 with distinction as well, and was appointed as a member of the teaching staff with the rank of assistant lecturer in the department Until I was accepted into postgraduate studies (PhD) in the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Languages/Saladin University/Erbil in 2003, and I finished my studies and obtained a doctorate degree on 5/7/2007 with a distinction with honors, and my thesis was printed at the university’s expense.
From the first day until the present day - thank God - I have continued to serve my country, my city, my university, my college, and my department.I have held multiple positions, including: department rapporteur and assistant dean at the college, and I held the position of head of the Arabic Language Department from 11/4/2014 to 11/7//2019, with progression through the academic ranks until I reached the rank of assistant professor, then I received the honor of the title of professor on 5/11/ 2023 and served as Director of the Postgraduate Studies Unit in the College of Education from 7/15/2021 to 8/15/2023 ............I now hold the position of head of the Arabic Language Department for the second session since 4/18/2023.... The mission of the Department of Arabic Language is to promote the Arabic language and literature and enhance its role in preserving national identity and cultural communication. This includes preparing qualified staff to teach the Arabic language at various levels of study, encouraging scientific research in the fields of linguistics and Arabic literature, developing students' skills in verbal and written communication, and organising cultural activities that enrich awareness of the Arabic language.
VisionThe vision of the Department of Scientific Arabic Language and its academic mission2024-2025 The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Education – Salah al-Din University/Erbil seeks to provide a suitable atmosphere for applicants to study there, and the years of study are distributed over (4) regular academic years according to two systems (Polona Process –, which was applied in this academic year in the first stage to extend to The other stages in the coming years) and the system (semesters in the second, third and fourth stages).
The department aims to prepare competent educational cadres within the specialty of the Arabic language, and to qualify them to be distinguished teachers in the field of education to serve young people in basic and secondary schools within the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
The department also seeks to prepare skilled cadres and researchers in the Arabic language specializations within the postgraduate studies formations (master’s and doctoral), whether they are among the teaching staff of the department or for expatriates from universities and other educational and scientific institutions. The department intends to make room within the new study plan for postgraduate studies for the year 2025-2026 for those wishing to complete postgraduate studies to obtain a higher diploma (one year) after a bachelor’s degree.
The department’s plans include developing curricula through the annual modernization platform and consolidating the principle of the "Polona System" by introducing materials that qualify graduates in the department for the future labor market by including new linguistic materials and studying languages parallel to the Arabic language with sustainable education materials and the job qualification subject for students, as well as the (AI) subject in the first stage.For the next academic year, in implementation of the university order related to this.

The department has no administrative powers except through the Deanship of the Faculty of education and the presidency of Salah al-Din University / Erbil As for participation, the department has consolidated since its establishment a year ago ١٩٨٦ and until now, scientific and administrative relations with the corresponding and joint departments with us in the general and exact specialization.
As well as exchanging experiences with the Arabic language departments at Salah al - Din University / Erbil and universities under the umbrella of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research-for the Kurdistan Region / Iraq . And with the Arabic language departments at the University of Mosul, Hamdaniya, Baghdad, Kirkuk and Tikrit The department has a close relationship with some government institutions, including The Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq ... By opening training courses for its employees ..... There are also active attempts to establish the rules of joint work between our department and the Institute of Oriental Studies at the University of Leipzig - Germany .
The department is now participating with its counterparts at the university to change the curricula for primary and higher studies in order to keep pace with the development and fruitful growth/

The Biology Department at the College of Education, Salahaddin University-Erbil, offers a comprehensive four-year Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) program in Biology.
